Entrance Policy

Students are expected to have gained GCSE passes at grade B in the subjects they wish to study and to have gained a minimum of 5 A*-C grades at GCSE, including a pass in English and Mathematics. Subjects new to the Sixth Form have their own individual entry criteria and details of these can be found in our Sixth Form prospectus. All entry is subject to a satisfactory reference from the student’s current school.

Students should be aware that they are unlikely to be able to cope with the demands of AS level unless they have obtained a minimum of 10 GCSE points (on a scale of 3,2,1, for grades A*,A, B,C respectively.)

All students are expected to take 4 subjects at AS level with the majority of students continuing 3 of these to A2 Level. Approximately 15% of students continue 4 subjects to A2 level.

Student Support

Students are closely monitored through a half-termly review where grades are given to record achievement, attendance, punctuality, ability to meet deadlines and effort. Personal tutorials follow the publication of these grades and students set targets to ensure that they are achieving to potential.
